Girls Who Grind Coffee was founded by Casey LaLonde in 2017.

Casey grew up in Upstate New York, where the smell of coffee in the mornings is one of her earliest memories. She went on to study Sociology, developed a deep interest in producer relationships and power dynamics, and started her career in a cupping lab - learning to roast, cup, and assist on Q-Grader courses along the way.

She knew two things early on: she wanted to work for herself, and she wanted to be closer to the women actually growing the coffee.

After moving to the UK in 2009 and two daughters later, she built the business she'd always had in mind. Coffee is a wonderful industry - but it's not always a fair one. Women make up the backbone of global coffee production and rarely get the recognition that comes with it. GWGC was built to change that. Not by talking about it, by doing it. Every coffee we buy is sourced directly from a woman. Every bag tells her story.

That's how we got here. That's why we're staying.
