Oooof, we’ve got something very special for you… roll up, roll up - IT’S TIME FOR OUR NEW GUATEMALAN SINGLE ORIGIN.

Introducing our brand new single origin Guatemalan coffee: chocolatey, comforting, and ridiculously easy to drink.

In Guatemala, coffee has long been a male-dominated industry, and gender equality within the sector remains a challenge. Unfortunately, it is still difficult for many women in Guatemala to compete and thrive in the coffee world.

La Morena is a coffee project that showcases and supports the work of women farmers across Guatemala.

La Morena is more than just a coffee; it’s a platform helping 1,796 women farmers build greater independence and visibility within the industry. This lot, sourced from Huehuetenango and Baja Verapaz, is heavy-bodied and sweet, with deep notes of chocolate, cherry, and brown sugar - making it suitable for all brewing methods.

La Morena was created to highlight and celebrate the incredible work of women coffee farmers across Guatemala.

We’ve worked with Volcafe to source this delicious coffee through their women-led coffee project, La Morena.

La Morena began in 2015 with just 22 women producers contributing to a single 30-bag lot of coffee. Today, the project works with more than 1,600 women farmers across Huehuetenango and Cubulco, creating traceable community lots through the Volcafe Way programme.

The programme focuses on improving quality, sustainability, and long-term economic opportunity for women producers. Farmers receive support in areas including farm management, pest control, financial training, and improving crop yield and coffee quality.

One of the most important aspects of the programme is knowledge-sharing within communities. Producers who successfully implement farming practices can become trainers themselves, hosting workshops and supporting other women farmers in their region.

Producers
Huehuetenango: 917 Women
Cubulco: 791 Women

Processing
Fully washed, sun dried

In the washed process, the focus is all about clarity and allowing the bean’s natural character to shine through. After harvesting, the cherry skin and pulp are removed before the beans are fermented, washed with water, and dried in the sun.

This process creates a clean, balanced cup with bright acidity.

We’re incredibly proud to work with Volcafe and La Morena to bring this coffee to the roastery. Projects like La Morena help create more visibility, opportunity, and support for women producers within an industry where their work is so often overlooked. And luckily for us all - it also happens to taste absolutely delicious.
