Our Sourcing Philosophy

It's been a minute since we talked about how we actually source our coffee.

You know the headline - we source exclusively from women producers. Always. That part hasn't changed and never will. But there's a lot more that goes into it than that. We believe specialty coffee depends not just on women's representation, but on building real business relationships that foster quality over time. Here's our take: you can't judge a coffee entirely on what's in the cup. We want the whole picture - including the story of the woman who worked her ass off to get that coffee to our table. Quality, to us, encompasses the entire journey.

Of course we want to drink exceptional coffee. And we want you to as well. But what we actively try to avoid is cherry picking the top micro lots from producers year after year and walking away. That's not impactful.

We want to make a real difference, not just for the producers we work with now, but for the future of specialty coffee altogether. One of the most meaningful ways we can do that? Buying as much coffee as we can from each producer, not just the expensive experimental lots. Farmers make the majority of their income through larger purchases. Micro lots are exciting and we love the odd experimental coffee - but when we do buy them, we buy from existing business partners - people we already have a relationship with.

We have a responsibility as a business to do good. And we know you expect more from the brands you support. Gone are the days when it was enough for a coffee company to say "the best beans from around the world, roasted to perfection."

We're so bored of that line. And we think you are too.

We work with like-minded small-scale importers, producer-roaster platforms, and directly with producers themselves. What every single one of our sourcing relationships has in common:

  • Full transparency and traceability

  • A genuine commitment to long term partnerships

  • Shared values around women, quality and the bigger picture

We're not interested in working with anyone who doesn't see the whole picture.

Our goal is simple - and not simple at all. Source and roast coffees from women whose stories deserve to be told, appreciated and rewarded. Build relationships that create real, lasting change. Buy in a way that makes specialty coffee sustainable for future generations.
