Grown by ASMUCAFE, Asociación de Mujeres Agropecuarias de Uribe, an association of women farmers and landowners in El Tambo, Cauca.
This coffee is grown by a small group of female smallholder farmers in garden plots alongside subsistence crops at between 1800 and 2500 metres. Arabica, washed, hand picked
In terms of grind size - yes, it absolutely does. To put it simply, grind size matters because it directly controls extraction speed, surface area and flavour balance.
You're into coffee, you understand varietals, origins, processes, and then you start hearing a new word. Coffea Canephora, commonly known as Robusta. It's popping up in coffee circles and if you're wondering what it means and why people are suddenly talking about it, let's get into it.
Nafeesa is the founder of ASISI Coffee and ASISI challenges everything you thought you knew about Robusta/Canephora. Grown under the shade of indigenous forest on her farm in Mukono, this coffee is the result of a careful balance between conservation and cultivation.
This one's for our funky friends. The people who want a little sparkle in their cup. You've tried her before and you loved her and now Wubit Bekele is back.
So, who exactly are Café Femenino? While women have always been crucial to coffee production in Peru, men traditionally held the economic power (Shock!). In 2004, 464 female coffee producers in Peru united to change this dynamic and take a step toward empowerment
There's a scoring system run by the Speciality Coffee Association (SCA) that uses a 100-point scale to grade coffee quality. Score 80 or above and you're classified as specialty grade. The scoring is done by Q Graders - licensed professional who go through a rigorous and expensive certification process run by the Coffee Quality Institute. Our founder Casey is one of them, so we know this world well.
She's officially back, but different this time. Back To The Filter, our delicious and versatile filter blend, is back with a twist. As we say a lot - our blends are seasonal and will change to keep things fresh and delicious, which we think is really exciting. Our current blend is a total dream team, bringing together two incredible women-grown lots (duh) that hit all the right notes.
La Morena is more than just a coffee; it’s a platform helping 1,796 women farmers build greater independence and visibility within the industry. This lot, sourced from Huehuetenango and Baja Verapaz, is heavy-bodied and sweet, with deep notes of chocolate, cherry, and brown sugar - making it suitable for all brewing methods.
You know the headline - we source exclusively from women producers. Always. That part hasn't changed and never will. But there's a lot more that goes into it than that. We believe specialty coffee depends not just on women's representation, but on building real business relationships that foster quality over time.
So you love coffee. You feel like you know coffee. You consume coffee content, you nod along to the TikToks, you can walk into a café and clock immediately whether your flat white is bitter or beautifully pulled.
When women are paid fairly, incredible things happen. Or rather, the things that should have been happening all along finally start to take shape. At Girls Who Grind Coffee, our mission isn't just about a great brew; it’s about correcting a historical imbalance, one cup at a time.
